For his latest show, Simon Boisseau draws inspiration from one of his greatest passions: animated cinema. Alternating between solo piano and more elaborate arrangements, he performs pieces from his two albums released under the Bravo musique label, enhanced by Anthony Piazza’s lighting design and stop-motion vignettes created by Laura Venditti. These short films follow a character reflecting the composer and musician’s childhood and early education, on a quest for personal growth and self-acceptance.
Throughout the performance, Simon guides the audience through an enveloping and playful atmosphere, shifting between humor and melancholy, self-deprecation and sensitivity. He offers the crowd a sense of belonging and an opportunity to see themselves in his stories. His impressionistic piano playing translates specific situations or emotions, unfolding a rich soundtrack that moves between recurring themes and surprising detours. Beyond his solo work, Simon is a frequent collaborator for Fredz and Émile Bourgault, and is a member of the pop-rock-funk band Barber For The Queen.
